SETsquared Bristol

Taught by Humans, a Bristol-based startup on a mission to make AI safe, useful, and human, has been named the winner of the Rising Star: Early Stage, High Potential Award.

The award shines a spotlight on the most promising early-stage ventures within the SETsquared ecosystem, celebrating start-ups, spin-outs, student enterprises, and ICURe alumni that are still in the early stages of their journey yet already demonstrating exceptional potential.

Supported by SETsquared Bristol, Taught by Humans is redefining how people work and learn alongside artificial intelligence. Their innovative platform brings learning and working together in one environment, combining advanced AI, human-centered design, and research-driven safety features to help individuals and organisations collaborate more effectively with intelligent tools.

Amy Cox (L) and Laura Gemmell (R) from Taught by Humans team with award.

The award was originally presented at the SETsquared Investment Futures 2025 event in London, which brings together investors and founders from across the UK’s innovation ecosystem. As Laura Gemmell, Founder of Taught by Humans, couldn’t attend in person, the award was re-presented at SETsquared Bristol’s Breakfast Connect, a chance for the local community to celebrate her and the company’s success in person.

Congratulations once again to Taught by Humans, a wonderful example of the next generation of ventures driving responsible innovation in AI.
